MEET GARAGE MONKEY HOST DAMON STEWART I took over GARAGE MONKEY in the Fall of 2006, when my good friend Lisa Wood departed for Portland. I've worked at other Seattle rock radio stations for years, hosting local music shows during most of that time. I have a passion for local bands, and was the first in the world to play for you the likes of Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, The Presidents Of The United States of America, Candlebox, The Posies, Mother Love Bone, and so many more. Big and small. Soundgarden even used my voice during the intro of their song "Searching With My Good Eye Closed". In the mid 90's I went to LA for a few years to do A&R at a major label, where I worked with some cool bands and great people.
I do my best searching the great Northwest for the best up-and-coming rock musicians, but can't do it alone. That's where you come in; If you’re band is interested in being played on the show, or know a local band that you think rocks, be sure to follow the submission process below!
WANT TO SUBMIT YOUR BAND TO GARAGE MONKEY?? KEEP READING, ROCKSTAR! Here are the guidelines for submitting materials: - Send a press pack. This should include the following:
- A quality recording CD (remember, quality doesn't have to be expensive!)
- A one sheet about the band (we don't need a book, just some basic history)
- A photo (no, it's not mandatory, but pictures are fun!)
- Clearly mark any tracks on the CD that are not fit for radio within the FCC guidelines (swearing, extreme sexual content, etc.).
- Send the package off to the following address:

FOLLOW UP: Damon receives a lot of CD's, and it takes time to listen to them all. Allow about 2 weeks for him to get to it, then feel free to follow up if you haven't heard it during the show! We get in fresh arrivals from the mail bag each week with the *Blind Demo Spin*, so you might get lucky this Tuesday if you send your cd now! WAIT, THERE'S MORE!!!Do you want your music on the Seattle radio airwaves? Better yet, do you want your music to reach Music Directors and Radio Programmers all over the country in an instant? Check it out HERE! It's a site where you can fill out a band bio, upload pictures, and share your music with the whole country! Once you submit your songs for consideration for airplay, hundreds of radio stations all over the USA will have access to YOUR work! And if they like it, they might even just play it on the radio! Not to mention the fact that you can listen to thousands of unsigned bands all over the country with a single click, and even give them feedback! But be nice, if you submit your work through the New! Music server, you’ll also be subject to comments from music lovers all over the country!
